Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16 Review
Comfort
Newly updated, Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16 is more comfortable than ever before and even more than Asics’s according to many reviews of runners who used to buy Asics shoes. They were comfortable and performed very well on my first outing. They not only are comfortable but also reduce pain after running associated with my flat feet.
Plus, all the pressure points on my feet don't hurt anymore when running or standing for a long time with these comfortable shoes. The upper also provides more comfort through its features. The inner linings give the shoes added comfort while the element linings assist in retaining comfort level at a top notch. In short, the shoes are designed with many different features but they have the same purpose is to bring the optimum comfort to runners.
Fit
I was suggested ordering half a size up and they fit my feet well. A nearly seamless design in these provides more comfortable and secure fit. The Adjustable Saddle Construction in the upper adjusts accordingly to fit the feet of runners instead of fighting against them. My feet never slide around in these. Like any other shoes, they fit better when broken in. The fit of these can suit runners with average feet.
Cushioning
The BioMoGo DNA midsole offers right cushioning where you need it. This feature also allows the midsole to dynamically adapt to every step and stride. The cushioning gels in forefoot and rear foot are created from a highly viscous liquid. The Brooks Adrenaline GTS was expected to have higher heel cushioning compared to neutral shoes. However, it is claimed to lack of adequate cushioning in rear foot. Cushioning in the forefoot of the 16th version is better with more technologies that improve protection and flexibility.

Support
These shoes are the perfect balance of soft cushion and support. Especially with the medial post in this them, it is ideal for runners who tend to pronate when running and walking (moderate to severe over pronation). They also have great heal support. In fact, its previous version worked well in easing my foot pain caused by plantar fasciitis and correcting my over-pronation; that’s why I continue purchasing Brooks Adrenaline GTS. They also provide great support to prevent my shin splints from activating. In general, I feel like my whole feet are supported. Plus, the great cushioning system and some updated features such as the V-Groove give the shoes a greater shock and impact absorption during running.
Stiffness
They are considered solid running shoes, which have super comfortable and stable medium stiffness on the heel. In general, the shoes have a wide range of features that increase its firmness.
Stability
I like the Adrenalines and think they are better stability shoes for your workout. I would recommend these to anyone who are looking for great sneakers with perfect balance of both cushioning and stability for running on road, track and gravel. Let’s get your running goals with stable ride with the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16.
Flexibility
The shoes have great support and stability without losing flexibility. Flexibility of GTS 16 is enough to allow the feet to roll from heel to toe in natural movement. Plus, the updated V-Groove offers a more flexible ride without reducing the cushioning.
Breathability
The moisture management mesh upper is highly breathable and will prevent sweat from bothering you. In case your shoes get water, they seem to dry very quickly thanks to the quick- drying properties provided by the element linings. However, some users reported that in warmer weather, if you don't wear the right socks, the shoes could make your feet hot.
Durability
From previous versions to this, it has only gotten better and never lapsed in quality. They seem to be made out of superior materials and have the same level of durability as other stability shoes out there. The stiffness of the 16th is enough to ensure durability from inside to outside. For several months of usage, I realized that the tread has shown very little wearing, even after being ran on a treadmill most of the time. The rest of the shoes looks like new and shows no wearing either.
Traction and terrains
The tread has great traction in dirt and on wet surfaces. Aside from this, the HPR Plus and Blown Rubber technologies outsole help improve grip and traction of Adrenaline GTS 16 on both dry and wet surfaces. This is great for the type of running that I do, which includes mostly road running with a little bit of limestone trail running mixed in. Besides, it is highly recommended for standard running on track and gravel or many miles on pavement thanks to the quite technical features. No matter how the bad weather is, they still work well.
Use
Professional runners and beginners can use these shoes strongly for their daily fitness activities and standard running as well which require stability and cushioning. Because of the heavy weight, these shoes cannot be used for racing, speed work or too long running. In other words, Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16 is designed for comfort and stamina instead of speed.
Although its price is a bit high, but in comparison with other stability running shoes in the market, it is affordable. Overall I did not regret after buying this pair of Brooks because it is really great and versatile with the best technologies from Brooks.
Look
This version of Brooks Adrenaline GTS is plusher than ever. They come with a lot of colors I wanted. It is truly as pictured in the description. And I often wear them not only for training but also casual activities.
Weight
The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16 is quite heavy and bulky. But for me, it is light and comfortable enough to feel like walking on cloud. I think that feeling is created by the great cushioning system and support features of the shoes.
Lastly
in my opinion, the best shoes should be selected based not only upon style, but most importantly based upon fit and support. And because of this reason, Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16 is the best shoe for me.
Previous versions of Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16
Brooks Adrenaline GTS 13
Brooks Adrenaline GTS 13 is the great combination of cushioning, stability support, and flexibility, which are very necessary for regular routines and trainings. It is designed with the Progressive Diagonal Rollbar for significant controlling severe over pronation. Flexibility of these shoes presents both in the toes and heel thanks to the Omega Flex Grooves used at the forefoot and the Segmented Caterpillar Crash Pad equipped in the heel. Especially, the Segmented Caterpillar Crash Pad also provides smoother transition from heel to toes as well as helps reduce shock and impact.
The Element Mesh in the upper is very breathable. This technology combines with synthetic overlays to offer more enjoyable and comfortable running experience. Brooks uses innovative technologies to enhance and empower the midsole of the shoes such as The BioMoGo Technology for more responsiveness, resilience, and more comfort. This technology is also combined with DNA gel Technology to give a better protection of the foot to fight against pressure and shock. The shoes are designed with amazing traction and grip to deal with different terrains such as road, track, and gravel and even on dry and wet surfaces. Although the cushioning is a little bit bulky, it is still soft, comfortable and natural.
Brooks Adrenaline GTS 14
This version maintains great combination of cushioning and flexibility of previous model, but at the same time it has subtle changes in its design and construction to keep comfort at a topnotch level and improve performance of the shoes. The outer sole is well known in providing high abrasion resistance and durable traction with popular technologies from the Brooks such as HPR Plus, Stable Pod Configuration and Omni Grooves and Blown Rubber. In terms of the upper, it has a new lacing system that works to maintain a snug fit without affecting the comfort. Besides, stability of the shoes is improved thanks to The DRB Accel - a new feature in the midsole. Its midsole technologies really offer maximum and best amount of comfort and cushioning.
When looking for shoes that can give smooth and responsive ride, Brooks Adrenaline GTS 14 is considered to be the most reliable running shoes in the market. Moreover, this model also adds additional structure for decelerating pronation. Overall, the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 14 is a good support for foot with low to flat arch runners who need stability and support running shoes to avoid unexpected injury.

Aside from stability and support provided by the shoes, they also have medial post, which is a good option for over-pronator in giving a safe landing and take-off during running. Like the 13 version, the 14 is a bit heavy. Therefore, it can’t be used in speed works. Instead of this, it is designed for normal training purposes or for wide variety of fitness activities and routines. Thanks to great traction and grip, this version also run well on road, track, wet or dry surfaces, but not on trails. From the upper materials to the supportive and comfortable midsole design and the soft and durable outsole, all will make you love these shoes the first time wearing it.
Brooks Adrenaline GTS 15
Because of great features in a casual design, Brooks Adrenaline GTS 15 is one of the best-selling training and running shoes from the first time it was introduced to the market. In this version, Brooks promises to bring to runners a lot safer and enjoyable running experience without worrying of getting injuries or other foot problems. Stability and arch support feature of the shoes are improved and enhanced compared to previous models. These shoes still feature BioMoGo DNA and Diagonal Rollbar for more stability support to help runners correct their pronation issue. A crash pad added to the midsole for smoother transition and heel strike makes the Adrenaline GTS 15 become a more refined running shoe.
With major updates done, you will see the increase of flexibility as well as support for arch, which are very important in stability shoes and for many runners. Flexibility of the shoes is updated without compromising cushioning through Flextra technologies and Omega Flex Grooves in midsole. Aside from this, the Omni Grooves placed in the outsole adds more flexibility to the shoes. With these technologies, they are redesigned to give more responsive and smooth stride while reducing the weight.
Moreover, a much softer and reliable material in the forefoot outsole not only enhances durability and traction of the shoes but also contribute to reducing their weight. With high durability and traction provided, they have a non-aggressive tread pattern of the flat outsole, which is good for road, gravel and track terrains. Its great traction can also be used on both wet and dry grounds. The Adrenaline GTS 15 is an all-around shoe for runners who need stability and cushioning. Overall, in comparison with previous version, these stability shoes are lighter, more flexible and supportive.

Brooks Transcend
The Brooks Adrenaline GTS and the Brooks Transcend are both running shoes from Brooks that fall in the support category. Like Adrenaline GTS, the Transcend are also stability shoes designed for road, gravel and track and great choice for over-pronators. However, there are some differences between these shoes that you should keep in mind if you tend to use one of them as a replacement for another. While the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16 uses a traditional method to provide stability and support, Brooks Transcend uses a newer way of providing discrete support and stability.
Additionally, The Adrenaline GTS 16 seems to provide more pronation control than the Transcend. The great amount of cushioning of these shoes is the same; however, the Brooks Transcend’s is a bit softer. That is because Super DNA cushioning used in Brooks Transcend is 25% softer than BioMoGo DNA cushioning used in Adrenaline GTS 16. Overall, in terms of benefit, both of these shoes provide runners with wonderful support and experience.
My rating:
Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16 - 9.1/10
