The machine supports a speed range from 0.3 mph - 2 mph that are optimal for walking while working. There are some models offers a higher top speed like NordicTrack Treadmill Desk offering 6 MPH top speed or LifeSpan TR5000-DT7 delivering a top speed up to 10 MPH.

InMovement Treadmill Desk offers an ample belt for walking (48 x 20”) equipped with Life Fitness’s FlexDeck® Shock Absorption. This technology ensures comfortable walking while reducing impact on user’s joints up to 30% compared to walking on asphalt, pavement or grass.
Work surface
It has a thick and sturdy work surface measured about 40″ wide by 31″ deep. This surface is pretty roomy and ideal to replace for traditional working desks. If you need a wider work surface, LifeSpan TR1200-DT5 is highly recommended with a 46.5″ wide x 31″ deep work surface.

InMovement Treadmill Desk Review
Comfort
Walk while working on the treadmill desk always makes my mood fresher and not feel trapped in a chair all day. Backed by biomechanics excellence and 45 years of Life Fitness® quality, the InMovement Treadmill Desk provides an adjustable, ergonomic experience. In the other words, it helps users have the most comfortable posture for working while both standing and moving. I’m 5’8 and don’t feel the desk too high or too short for me. The height of desk can be adjusted to accommodate users from 4’10” to 6’6”.
Its desk is measured at 40 x 31” that allows me to put my laptop and other devices on it and also offers me a spacious working area. Moreover, thanks to long workout surface, I can stretch my strides comfortably more than when walking on Exerpeutic 2000 WorkFit High Capacity Desk Station Treadmill. And it is well cushioned to offer smooth and soft walking too. But in case if you want to have longer and wider workout surface, you should consider Proform Thinline Pro treadmill desk with 22″W x 60″L running surface.
Convenience
As convenient as when using LifeSpan TR1200-DT7 treadmill desk, I just need to make the push of a button to adjust the height of desk. Plus, it has a built-in connectivity panel placed at the back of the desk. It is equipped with USB docks, AC power hookups and an Ethernet connection. These allow me to charge phones, connect monitors and laptops directly above the desktop conveniently.
Thanks to the integrated LCD display, I can also easily track my progress including feeds back of speed, steps taken, walking duration and miles walked. However, it doesn’t give me feedback about heart rate and calorie burn that I have to get in another way. A small downside of this model is that unlike treadmills designed for health clubs, it doesn’t have exercise routine programming. I have to say that this model is well-known for its quality not for features.
Support
It has a sturdy frame which can support users weighing up to 350 pounds. This user weight capacity is higher than many treadmill desk models like Nordic Track or ProForm Thinline Pro. And it is a typical weight capacity found on health club treadmills. When it comes to speed, the unit supports an optimal speed range from 0.3 to 2 MPH for walking while working. I highly recommend walkers to only walk between 1 – 2 mph to not affect to their work productivity.
Especially, the belt of the machine is designed with the Life Fitness FlexDeck® Shock Absorption System. This advanced and supportive feature works well in reducing impact to my joints by nearly 30% to provide me with smoother strides. I can walk for hours without feeling stress in my hips, knees and other joints. And in order to keep user in safety, there are also extra wide foot rails which let people step to the side easily if needed, the convenient pause and stop buttons featured on the desktop and responsive stopping time.
Performance
As mentioned, The InMovement Treadmill desk allows users to prioritize their health without sacrificing their work. According to many studies, seating all day long may raise your risk of heart attack and other health issues. It is proven that walking on InMovement Treadmill Desk can help reduce these risks.
Besides, this machine also helps me lower stress levels, increase my energy and focus to work effectively as well as burn three to five times more calories than only sitting. The treadmill operates very smoothly, stably and silently. At 0.3 to 2 MPH speed range, I can write, type, read my computer screen or talk on the phone while walking comfortably. I’m very confident to walk on it without worrying about disturbing my colleagues.
Quality and durability
It is hard to confirm how long the treadmill can last because I have just used it for several months. But in general, the quality of this product is advertised to be suitable for regular use in commercial environments. At high price, the treadmill comes with a commercial grade engineering and design adhering to industry-leading standards. It will definitely serve user many years without needing regular maintenance. Especially, this high-end model features a Power-Saving Sleep Mode to reduce electric cost and at the same time promotes sustainability.
Use
This treadmill is sized comfortably for both petite exercisers and taller trainees. InMovement.com says their treadmill desk is produced to provide users with a beneficial alternative to the traditional desk. In fact, with quiet motor, optimal speeds for walking while working, and a simple but sturdy design, InMovement Treadmill Desk is indeed a good addition to your workplace in both form and function and ideal for community or individual use. However, because of it low speed range combining with a rather short workout surface, the InMovement treadmill desk is only used for walking, not for running.
In short, if you are looking for a high quality treadmill desk to fit almost workers, the InMovement Treadmill Desk is a great choice. Although it isn’t sized for running but offers reliable, extremely well-built quality, operates quietly and can be used by multiple users per day. Up to now, I have never I have never regretted for purchasing this unit.
Compare the InMovement Treadmill Desk to other models
Steelcase Walkstation Treadmill Desk
Both two models have high quality but simple design. Compared to the Steelcase Walkstation , instead of using a membrane keypad console sliding out from the center of the desk the InMovement’ treadmill has a more updated control console setup with a small LCD screen which is placed on the left side of the desk. But in the terms of performance, Steelcase Walkstation Treadmill Desk has some similar features to the InMovement treadmill desk. For example, this model has 3.0 HP Continuous Duty DC motor which offers speeds range from 0.3 to 2 MPH without incline feature. The strong frame on the machine supports users weighing up to 350 LBS too.
Like the InMovement’ treadmill, this treadmill desk also comes with a desk with adjustable height. But at W 78" x D 29" this desk is wider than InMovement’s desk providing users with very roomy work surface. In addition to this, its belt area (W 18" x L 53") is longer than one on the InMovement treadmill desk. However generally, at the similar price, Steelcase Walkstation Treadmill Desk is a good replacement for InMovement treadmill desk.
LifeSpan TR5000-DT7 Treadmill Desk
Despite not having great quality like the InMovement Treadmill Desk, LifeSpan TR5000-DT7 Treadmill Desk is considered as good option for work space. At a lower price but this model still has 3.0 HP motor supporting top speed of 10 MPH. Its workspace is electronically adjusted supporting heights up to 6’8”. You will be amazed when know that it can withstand users weighing up to 400 LBS. This user weight capacity is even higher than maximum user weight provided by the InMovement Treadmill Desk.
The workout surface on the TR5000-DT7 treadmill is also a little longer than the more expensive model. However, according to my experience after trying both models, I still feel more confident to walk on the InMovement Treadmill Desk than on TR5000-DT7 Treadmill Desk because it runs indeed quietly and doesn’t shake. But if you don’t want to buy a treadmill desk at too high price, the LifeSpan TR5000-DT7 Treadmill Desk is maybe a more reasonable choice.
ProForm Thinline Pro Treadmill Desk
Another great product I want to make the comparison with the InMovement Treadmill Desk is the ProForm Thinline Pro Treadmill Desk. This model is also one of the most popular choices for office space. This office treadmill seems to have more features than the treadmill of the InMovement such as a 12% incline and a 3% decline, iFit technology, 40 built-in programs or foldable feature. Its 3.0 HP motor can support top speed up to 12 MPH.
With the high top speed and 60″ long x 22″ wide running surface, this treadmill can be used not only for walking but for running while the InMovement Treadmill Desk is used only for walking. But in the terms of quality and the quietness when operating, ProForm Thinline Pro Treadmill Desk can’t beat the InMovement Treadmill Desk. In short, if you are looking for a treadmill desk that can be used for running not only for walking, I highly recommend ProForm Thinline Pro Treadmill Desk.
My rating:
-
8.2/10
Summary
8.4/10 is my rating for the InMovement TreadMill desk because of its great quality, silent motor and a strong frame. Besides, the machine’s overall design looks like brushed pinewood and nickel, which can match nicely into office space or home gym. However, it lacks of some features found on high-end models such as incline feature, preset workout programs or iFit technology.
