ProForm PRO 9000 Treadmill

ProForm PRO 9000 description

Motor

It is powered by a 4.25 CHP commercial-grade motor. The motor is powerful more about 25% than other non-Proform motors on the market today. It comes with first-rate brushes, high-grade commercial bearings, high-quality cables and wires, and a thermal cut-off switch that reduce vibration and noise in every run. It runs extremely quiet even at top speed and can handle heavy use, long runs or interval training and in general.

Speed

The motor can rotate the belt at speeds of up to 12 MPH. This speed is suitable for walking, jogging and running. It is a popular top speed on models for home use. You can also find other treadmills which offer the same top speed such as S77 SOLE Treadmill, Nordic Track commercial 2450 or 3G Cardio Pro Runner Treadmill.

Incline/ decline

Like the Nordic Track Commercial 2450 or the Yowza Fitness machines, this model also has a challenging 15% incline and -3% decline option which is the widest gradient range of treadmills for home use. This helps train the different groups of muscle like hamstrings, glutes, quads and calves as well as increase the rate of calorie burned compared to running on flat at the same belt speed.

The track

The Pro 9000’s workout surface is measured at 60″ long x 22″ wide which is even wider 2” than ones used for runners. This is equipped with the Pro-Shox cushioning to provide much more comfortable strides than running on asphalt or concrete.

Display console

It includes a 10″ web-enabled full-color touchscreen, the iPod/MP3 compatible Intermix Acoustics 3.0 audio system and 3-inch speakers. These provide plenty of entertainment functions as well as allow users to track their workout feedback.

Especially, this console is iFit enabled. This technology lets user access to a large downloadable workout library, customize their routes and compete with friends.

Plus, you will see an integrated tablet holder placed on the top of the console and wide storage area. The holder is to keep the tablet screen stably and improve the visibility.

Programs

Although this treadmill has fewer programs than Nordic Track treadmills, it still has more programs than Sole ones. It comes with 38 workout programs mainly focusing on speed, incline, weight loss and intensity training to keep users interested. They certainly make even serious runners feel happy with variable running speeds, steeper inclines, and iFit workouts.

Safety features

Beside some standard safety features like the short set of hand rails, the side rails on either side of the tread belt or a safety key, The ProForm Pro 9000 is featured with a child-safety passcode, which just allows you to access to console operations if you provide the correct 4-digit combination.

Another unique safety feature is a safety screen timeout. The console will automatically reset if it doesn’t receive any interaction and the belt doesn’t run for a long period of time.

Heart rate monitoring

When it comes to heart rate monitoring, the ProForm Pro 9000 provides the dual EKG touch sensors and wireless chest straps. These straps are generally rated to offer more accurate feedback of user’s pulse to the console.

ProForm PRO 9000 Treadmill Review

Comfort

The ProForm Pro 9000 has a lot of features to provide users with a satisfactory and comfortable workout. I can enjoy more freedom of movement during my workout thanks to a 22" x 60" running area which is one of the largest in the treadmill industry. With this size of track, it can be suited to the long strides of 6ft+ users. In addition to that, the comfortable ProShox™ material used on the surface keeps me run longer without feeling too much impact on my legs.

Especially, to maintain the comfort and motivate users during their workout, the unit has a 10″ web-enabled full-color touchscreen, which allows them to watch their favorite movies, check social media, or catch up on TV shows while they walk, jog, or run. I also love the iPod/MP3 compatible Intermix Acoustics 3.0 audio system, combining with built-in speakers that let me listen to my favorite music during training process.

Another comfortable feature is two-speed cooling fans. These keep me stay cool and more relaxed even when I have run for long time in hot room.

Convenience

Its console is very friendly and easy to use. With the touchscreen, I can make a quick and convenient switch between a summary view of my workout feedback and the entertainment options of the Android web browser.

Besides, this also offers clearly labelled Quick Select buttons for the belt speed, incline, preset workout programs, iFit programs, and even for adjusting the speed of built-in CoolAire Fans. The convenient QuickSpeed® buttons allow me to adjust my intensity quickly without needing to stop.

Lastly, the Pro 9000 is designed with a folding feature that is fairly common with ProForm models so you can easily fold the deck upward to save floor space after finishing your exercises.

Support

User will receive the support from the stable Pro-Shox cushioning used on the track. It is to provide the right amount of softness as well as the hardness to protect running feet while challenging user’s stamina in intensive workouts. And with the wireless chest straps for heart rate monitoring, I don’t need to keep a fixed grip on the handles that often hindered my natural stride and reduced my overall performance.

Additionally, there are plenty of workout programs loaded in the machine to help me reach my fitness goals more quickly. Besides, I always feel safe whenever training on the Pro 9000 thanks to some excellent safety features equipped on this model such as a child-safety passcode, a safety screen timeout and other standard safety features.

Performance

The Pro 9000 of ProForm always boasts of its heavy-duty performance. The 4.2 HP Motor combining with high quality drive components indeed offers a powerful, quieter and smooth performance. I have never felt any shake or vibration when training on this machine.

Moreover, I often push the 9000 to its absolute limits but the motor has been never overheated. Plus, this seems to work better than Sole S77 which I had tried in boosting the user’s performance thanks to a 15% incline and -3% decline level. In short, this treadmill has provided me with very stable, smooth and very effective workouts.

Quality and durability

Overall, the motor, running surface, frame and every part on this model is made of the best materials. Specifically, the large frame Commercial Pro motor of the Pro 9000 is made from high-grade components with an internal cooling system for reducing wear on parts and minimizing vibration.

Additionally, there are 2.5″ precision-machined, balanced rollers placed between the running deck and the belt instead of the 1.9″ rollers found on ProForm’s most affordable models. These do a great job of reducing wear and tension on the belt as well as promoting longevity. Speak about the durability it seems to be able to serve all members of a family for at least four or five years.

In order to ensure the quality and durability of the product, ProForm offers a nearly perfect warranty with a lifetime warranty for motor and frame, 6 years for electronics and parts, and 3 years for labor. This allows serious runners or top athletes to use the treadmill intensively without worrying about breakdowns.

Use

Generally, the Pro 9000 home use treadmill can be used for walking, jogging and running at home. Especially, it’s designed for serious runners who run rigorously and constantly and for intense workouts due to its cutting-edge features and unmatched durability. In the terms of user weight capacity, I just suggest this treadmill for user weighing less than 300 pounds.

Conclusion

no matter what aspect you consider (quality, smart or entertainment features), you will be completely satisfied. If you are looking for a heavier duty treadmill for your home training, it’s highly recommended.

Compare ProForm Pro 9000 Treadmill to other models

ProForm Pro 5000 treadmill

Compared to the Pro 9000 the Pro 5000 treadmills has a smaller display screen (7-inches), less powerful motor (4 HP) and fewer workout programs (34) but it is also a great combination of high quality features.

This model still offers a 60″ long x 22″ wide track which can accommodate for almost any runner, an impressive range of -3% to 15% decline and incline, iFit technology as well as an iPod-compatible port with built-in speakers.

Generally, the ProForm Pro 9000 treadmill is indeed a greatly upgraded version of the Pro 5000. In my opinion, at the lower price than the 9000, the Pro 5000 treadmill is also a good option for your budget that you should consider.

FreeMotion 890 Treadmill

The other model I would like to make comparison with ProForm Pro 9000 treadmill is FreeMotion 890 Treadmill. This model has a first-rate 4.2 CHP Commercial Pro Motor and a 20” x 60” 2-ply treadmill belt that can reach the top speed up to 12 mph.

These main specs are not better than the Pro 9000. But when it comes to strength, it is designed with a sturdy framework that can support users weighing up to 375 pounds. Its weight capacity is little higher than of the 9000.

Besides, the FreeMotion 890 Treadmill also has many advanced features including a 10” Touch Screen in full color, a built in iFit Live Technology, 36 workout apps, the Hand Grip Heart Rate Monitor or the Polar Wireless Chest Strap for heart rate monitoring and other more convenient features.

In short, at under $2000, FreeMotion 890 Treadmill is also an ideal option for serious runners.

NordicTrack Commercial 1750

NordicTrack Commercial 1750

Another model has some similar features to the Pro 9000 is NordicTrack Commercial 1750. Although it only has 3.8 HP motor, this model still reach a top speed up to 12 MPH and can inclines by up to 15% and declines by up to 3%.

With the Commercial 1750, users have a chance to enjoy a high quality and roomy 60″ x 22″ workout area like on the 9000 with the support of the Flex cushioning system of Nordic Track. The strong frame on this model can withstand users weighing not over 300 pounds.

All these main specs make the machine ideal for serious runners. Plus, go hand in hand with the high quality components, this treadmill also has many convenient and advanced features such as a 7″ touchscreen as its all-in-one control center, 38 built-in programs, iFit Coach, a complete Bluetooth® heart monitoring system, AutoBreeze fans and foldable feature as well.

My rating:
  • 9.3/10
    ProForm PRO 9000 Treadmill - 9.3/10
9.3/10

Summary

9.3/10.0. I agree with this rating provided by a website. The ProForm Pro 9000 is leading its high quality home treadmill series. If running is part of your daily training, this treadmill will be a good investment. At its price, I think it is difficult to find a better model than the Pro 9000.
